Introduction

Aim - To produce an artefact to give information about my hobby of mountain biking. The artefact is to include details such as Types of bicycle, styles of riding and some technical details about a mountain bike. The artefact is to be placed on a webpage and the surrounding website will include other pages with information including a storyboard for the artefact, details of images used and some basic personal details for coursework identification purposes.

Audience - The target audience for the artefact is very limited. It is being used as a piece of coursework and therefore is aimed mainly at the examiner, but possible viewing by other students would mean a very varied audience may actually see the artefact, however as it is to be a marked piece of coursework the artefact will be designed in a way to fulfil all the set requirements for the work.

Content - The web page containing the artefact will have an urban look and feel to it, using a dark background and an urban looking typeface. To avoid any warning messages appearing due to the unusual font, any use of the typeface will be placed within an image so that the actual font doesn't need to be installed on the user's/viewer's computer. There will be 5 sections to the website - 1 - Homepage/Introduction, 2 - The artefact, 3 - The storyboard (This section will include a number of pages to contain each stage of the storyboard with a brief explanation), 4 - Raw data (will include thumbnail images of any unaltered images/video used within the artefact, 5 - A personal details page (with contact details and information for coursework identification purposes). The artefact will also use the same look and feel ideas of the website using the dark background and urban typography, although these will be expanded on with the use of a tear theme (to make the screen appear as if it had been tore away, to reveal the text below). As with the website, to avoid any warning messages appearing any use of the unusual typography will be contained within image files, so that the font doesn't need to be installed on the user's PC. The intro animation will be captured from an existing video, however it will be stylised using a combination of video & image manipulation software and combined with additional original material to give impact, this animation will include a skip button to allow user's to skip to the main body of the artefact. The main body of the artefact includes a combination of original artwork, altered stock images and video. The design throughout the artefact and website will be consistent to give a professional look to the presentation.

Resources & Additional Materials - All material used on the webpage and in the artefact are original, although the base images for the bicycles have been sourced from elsewhere. The stylised pictures are traces from original images. All of the buttons are original and were created in Photoshop.
